Israel announces recognition of Somaliland

The Prime Minister announced today that the Republic of Somaliland has officially recognized its independence as an independent and sovereign state.

Prime Minister Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Saaid, and the President of the Republic of Somaliland signed a joint statement.

This statement is in reference to the Abraham Accords, which were signed at the initiative of President Trump.

Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated the President of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdalla, and praised his leadership and commitment to promoting stability and peace. The Prime Minister invited the President to pay an official visit to Israel, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The President thanked Prime Minister Netanyahu for his historic announcement and expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s achievements in combating terrorism and promoting peace in the region, the statement said.
